Encouraging news with CAR T treatments in childhood cancers!

Here is some very encouraging news about CAR T therapy as an option for children with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) and also the multiple myelomas. Hopefully, we are getting closer and closer to seeing an end to childhood leukemias and lymphomas!

Here is the article about the treatment of ALL with CAR T: https://www.medpagetoday.com/hematologyoncology/leukemia/93296?xid=nl_mpt_DHE_2021-06-26&eun=g1855899d0r&utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Daily%20Headlines%20Top%20Cat%20HeC%20%202021-06-26&utm_term=NL_Daily_DHE_dual-gmail-definition

And here is the one about the multiple myelomas: https://medicalxpress.com/news/2021-06-potential-car-t-cell-therapy-multiple.html

What is CAR T therapy? It’s an amazing process where an individual’s T cells are changed to cancer fighting warriors in a laboratory setting, and then infused back to the patient. It is an incredible process which can cause the infamous “cytokine storm” reaction mentioned in the first article (above). For more details on CAR T, please read https://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/treatment/research/car-t-cells for an excellent description of how the process works.

I am looking forward to hearing more positive news on this front in the near future!
