When blood cancer unmasked the real me

Don’t you just hate it when people call you a hero just because you were unlucky enough to get a cancer diagnosis and then go through treatment? Don’t you also hate it when people say you are doing “so well” or indeed “not well enough”? For me as a Christian, looking back on my time in watch and wait, treatment, and the years of post-treatment side effects, I am painfully aware that at times I did not “pass the test”. I wasn’t easy to live with. I wasn’t the stereotypical “amazing” cancer patient.

For me all this got very mixed up in my faith, and I know that not all of you have a faith, but for me the message of grace. forgiveness, and transformation has been so helpful over the years. If you would like to read about that I have written about this, it is over on my Patheos blog.
