Spring is going to be busy!

Andrew and I just passed a wonderful milestone with the marriage of our one and only daughter, Ruthie -who is sandwiched between our two sons. The wedding was both magical and a reminder to cherish every day together as we continue on our shared cancer journey. We revel in gaining a wonderful son-in-law (a neurosurgeon, no less!), and now turn our energies to preparing for ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology) in Chicago in early June. This annual meeting brings together thousands of cancer clinicians and researchers from around the world – and we will be there along with other staff from Remedy Health Media and Patient Power to cover the latest news related to the treatment of blood cancers as well as other forms of cancer. Hopefully much of that information will post on our website in mid/late June.
Meanwhile, there are a number of programs I want to bring to your attention:
– With CAR T-cell therapy approved for some blood cancers and in trial for others, when do doctors recommend CAR T for patients? I know that many of you wonder about this leading edge treatment and this discussion with a CAR T patient and a leading CAR T specialist should help answer some questions.
– For those who are living with an MPN, the latest in a series of programs about various aspects of these conditions is with a top specialist explaining about what molecular testing tells us about which treatments may work best, and a whole lot more.
I’m also thrilled to see that we will be doing a number of online programs that will cover key issues related to CLL, MPNs, and Multiple Myeloma – all in May! I know that with this wonderful community we deal with time differences that sometimes make live participation difficult (unless you are a night owl), but rest assured these will all be posted within a few weeks after the program.
As we head into the summer, Andrew and I wish only better health to all, and we are always here for any questions you may have. – Esther Schorr
